Located family graves in Camrose churchyard (1823), St Martins near Wrexham (1780) and others, and researched family records in archive of the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth; pony trekking near Brecon; barge trip on canal from Govilon to Talybont on Usk; walked 5 miles of Offa’s Dyke near Knighton; taken steam railways from Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion, and Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge; visited National Trust properties - Powis Castle near Welshpool, Bodnant gardens near Conway, Erddig near Wrexham, Plas Newydd on Anglesey and Llanerchaeron near Aberaeron.
Taken train to the summit of Snowdon; boat trips from St Davids round Ramsey Island; and from Dale out to Skokholm and Skomer islands; to see the bluebells and sea birds; been down the Roman gold mines at Dolaucothi, and Big Pit at Blaenafon, the coal mine exhibition run by the National Museum – you are taken underground by ex-miners who used to work in this pit which ceased coal production in the 1980s; enjoyed Don Carlos in the new Opera House in Cardiff Bay; attended concerts and rehearsals of the Pontypridd Male Voice Choir.

As well as seeing lots of castles – Pembroke, Harlech, Conwy, Caerphilly, Raglan and more! – St Davids Cathedral and Tintern Abbey; Hay on Wye for the Festival and bookshops; Laugharne for Dylan Thomas; many private gardens as well as the restored 17thC gardens at Aberglasney and the National Botanic Garden near Carmarthen; the world famous Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans, a small village outside Cardiff and just a mile from this house – and being at all times in beautiful countryside surrounded by spectacular scenery.
